EDHEC's Alumni Association is 2nd in the world - that was the impressive ranking that the Economist Intelligence Unit gave the Theseus- EDHEC MBA in this year's worldwide ranking of full-time MBA programmes in the category "Potential to Network" (The Economist, 29th September 2007).
This vast network of over 18 000 alumni is present in over 100 countries and open to all of EDHEC's Masters graduates. It offers its members the opportunity to network by organising meetings throughout France as well as on an international scale such as Dublin, Shanghai, New York, Brussels, Hong Kong, Rome, Tokyo etc.
The regular meetings and conferences hosted by the various professional clubs offer like-minded graduates the chance to catch up on the latest industry developments and are the ideal way for graduates to increase networking channels. For example, the Finance Club recently hosted a conference on "Hedge Funds: Strategies and Perspectives" in London and invited Prof Philippe Malaise, president and founder of numerous financial modeling companies to talk about the latest developments in the market. Last week, the HR & Management Club organised a conference in Paris on The Goodwill Strategy following the launch of the book by EDHEC alumnus 1981 Juliette Tournand. The author was present and spoke enthusiastically about this personal development strategy which enables us to improve our interpersonal relationships, based on cooperation and the deployment of 4 key elements: goodwill, clarity, reciprocity and the freedom to innovate. Obviously, further to the Alumni Network's conferences, EDHEC alumni also continue to benefit from all conferences organised by the School itself.
Monthly regional meetings are organised to group alumni living in the same area and have a more social flavour such as the recent wine tasting event in Cannes. The festive season gives the perfect occasion to meet EDHEC alumni at Christmas cocktails that are planned all over the world, even as far away as in Sydney. The Alumni Network's main event takes place each year in Paris and last year brought together 1300 participants in a special venue on the famous Champs Elysee to catch up on good times and make new contacts. For people who do not have the possibility to come to one of the regional events, the alumni network even organised a virtual meeting in Second Life.
Besides the social aspect and the continuous learning, one of the priorities of the Alumni Network is to offer ongoing career support. Whether members have 2 or 20 years of career behind them, the Careers Service offers a wide range of professional services to give their professional life the boost it needs. It provides help with job offers, careers guidance, drawing up an application, personality tests and skills assessments etc.
All EDHEC graduates become life members of this thriving community and benefit from a regular information exchange through the frequent newsletters and publications. Students leave the School with the coveted EDHEC alumni Handbook, which provides the names and professional contact details of 100 years of Alumni. This book is a real tool in graduates' job search, highly valued by recruitment agencies and greatly appreciated by students who use it when looking for that precious contact in a certain company.
