The Theseus-EDHEC MBA participants are keen to get back into action and put into practice their recently acquired or developed business skills and competencies in the dynamic business world. Teams of MBA students have been sent out on consulting missions that round off the MBA programme, putting the participants back into action after 10 months of intensive training.
To conclude their MBA programme the participants have just embarked upon a two-month executive-level consulting project with companies facing specific industry challenges in France, London and Mauritius. These companies will all benefit from the advice of teams of consultants to help find solutions and provide sound strategic analysis.

Alternatively, participants will be working on personal entrepreneurial projects for the development of new business ideas and ventures. These can then be presented to business angels and venture capitalists to find the much needed funding for the new projects or start-ups that have the potential for success. Both the consulting projects and personal entrepreneurial projects will ease the participants' transition back into professional life.
This year three major consulting projects have been earmarked. The projects include a review of the Supply Chain Organisation of EDF Energy in four locations across Europe (UK, Germany, Hungary and Slovakia) for the purpose of appraising its operational efficiencies and benchmarking against international best practices in the industry. The team of MBA participants for this project will have an opportunity to investigate and provide recommendations on how EDF Energy can improve its current supply chain activities which covers international contract management, procurement, logistics etc through the adoption of best practices. The impact of the project is also expected to improve the bottom-line of the over £7 billion business of EDF Energy. This opportunity provides the team with an experience of consulting in process management and performance evaluation in the energy business of one of Europe's leading energy producers and one of the largest energy corporations in the world. A team of five MBA consultants set off for London where they will fulfil their mission.
The second project from Amadeus, world leader in applied technology for the travel industry, seeks to expand its current online hotel business model offering beyond its traditional business reservation booking for clients. This requires an in-depth analysis of the potential market and the setting up of a structure for the new booking platform which will stimulate additional demand for the products of Amadeus. This opportunity provides the Theseus-EDHEC MBA team of consultants with an example of reappraising an organisation's business model and gaining further hands-on experience before re-entering professional life.
The Third project is from Anglo African Enterprises, whose main area of business is the provision of consultancy, sales and technical services within the Information and Communications Technology industry in the Eastern African and Indian Ocean islands region. With the objective of becoming the leading IT & Telecom Company outside RSA in Sub-Sahara Africa, Anglo-African Enterprises turned to both a top consulting company and EDHEC for advice. The EDHEC team of MBA consultants was finally chosen to follow through the mission which involves the development of a five-year business plan. The team is made up of MBA participants who already have a rich background in consulting (Boston Consulting Group, Accenture, Atos Origin etc) and these members will be situated in Mauritius for the length of the project. This mission gives the participants an opportunity to showcase the skills and competencies acquired in the course of their previous working experience and to also put to use the new knowledge acquired in the course of the MBA programme at EDHEC Business School.
As an alternative to these consulting missions, some MBA participants have chosen to take up the challenge to turn their new skills and knowledge into profitable innovations and ideas for personal business projects. Following an intensive three-week course on entrepreneurship and innovation management where the participants presented group entrepreneurship projects to venture capitalists and business angels to assess their viability, some MBA participants have chosen to build upon these ideas and setup management structures and frameworks to turn these ideas into profitable business innovations.
Acquisition of ALGOVITAL S.A.:
One group of MBA participants is currently working on the acquisition and running of Algovital SA, a thriving essential oils and healthcare products business, located in Cannes, France. This project requires massive investment in manufacturing capacity and human capital to turnaround the business into a global player in the sector. The business is currently being managed within the French territory only, but the group has already started working on the strategic development plan to increase the company's exports.
Establishment of OPTIMIZE S.A.:
A second entrepreneurship group project focuses on introducing an electronic display system to reduce the ordering time at restaurants across France. The concept with an acronym RYMS (Restaurant Yield Management System) was awarded the best project at the end of the three weeks entrepreneurship class among five other projects, as decided by notable Venture Capitalists and entrepreneurship experts. The concept which has the potential to support client's information need became an instant delight of the investors and was awarded 300,000 Euros of funding by the Sophia Business Angels when the project will actually take off.
Launching of the EBAY for SERVICES:
The EBAY for services concept is also one of the projects that was proposed at the entrepreneurship project class and the team that worked on the project are focusing on the software platform of the project to ensure its success in the online market. The project which was accorded the most focused entrepreneurship project revealed a concept that seeks to redefine the existing model of online services market.
Seeing the enthusiasm for the consulting and entrepreneurial projects, the MBA programme is not just aimed at building future business managers but is also structured to build entrepreneurs, innovators and individuals that will make an impact around the globe.
