EDHEC Researchers Offer Solutions to the Funding of Higher Education at EDHEC Research Day

NIKKI HARLE May 19, 2008
The recent EDHEC Research Day in Paris, gathered 200 professionals and economic players and served to examine the question of the financing of higher education in France today.

The event opened with  two  plenary sessions  during which the EDHEC research and development division led a debate on the financing of higher education . This debate focused on  the merits of cost-sharing by the student and the collectivity and the definition of fairer methods of financing which would no longer exclude young people from disadvantaged backgrounds gaining access to higher education. It also highlighted financing mechanisms used abroad and the question of whether the finance system in France is adapted to a globalised economy. The second session highlighted the impact of management research on the world of business.

The rest of the conference was devoted to thematic workshops in which researchers and practitioners presented the EDHEC Research Centres and discussed their latest findings in accounting and financial analysis, economics, market finance, management, marketing, and legal studies.

A special workshop focused on EDHEC's new doctoral programme in finance.
